Head of Commercial Finance

What you will do

• Provide commercial finance insight, strategic analysis, and constructive challenge to support business decisions, investment opportunities, operational efficiency, project profitability, and sustainable growth.
• Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting, establish financial targets, and support regional and business services leaders with financial plans.
• Lead monthly business reviews with Regional Directors, delivering financial reporting, KPI analysis, revenue modelling, and actions to improve profitability, cash flow, and performance.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies, including best practice in revenue recognition and long-term contract accounting.
• Improve working capital, cash management, finance processes, systems, and controls, including ongoing optimisation of Dynamics 365.
• Develop finance team capability through coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent.
• 15+ years of experience in commercial finance, business partnering, and financial leadership roles.
• Professional services or consultancy experience is essential; built environment sector experience is highly desirable.
• Experience leading high-performing finance teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen, analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders in a matrix environment and translate complex financial information into clear business insights.
• Advanced Excel and ERP systems expertise; Dynamics 365 experience is desirable.
• Resilience, adaptability, attention to detail, integrity, professionalism, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Strong leadership capabilities focused on coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.
