Senior Backend Engineer / Technical Lead (AI)

Location: Lausanne, Switzerland; hybrid work model balancing office and remote work, with structured office attendance for new hires.

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale distributed backend systems serving millions of users.
• Deliver backend features end to end, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and operational ownership.
• Architect low-latency APIs and services for AI-driven conversational experiences in hirify.global Assist.
• Develop Java cloud-native services and infrastructure using AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes or ECS.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, resiliency, compliance, and performance in high-throughput environments.
• Lead technical execution, coordinate cross-team delivery, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and translate product requirements into technical strategy.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern Java 17+ and experience designing systems for millions of users or real-time high-throughput services.
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud-native architectures, Docker, and Kubernetes or ECS.
• Experience with distributed data systems such as Redis and Apache Kafka.
• Experience with high-availability systems, failover, resiliency design, and observability practices including logging, monitoring, tracing, and metrics.
• Strong English communication skills are required, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Micronaut or Spring.
• Python experience.
• Performance tuning and scaling in high-throughput environments.
• Familiarity with GitOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
