Senior Quality Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid

Salary: 157,500–192,500 CAD annually; typical starting salary for full readiness is 175,000 CAD.

What you will do

• Own the quality roadmap for Risk Engineering and build quality engineering frameworks for Core Banking systems, including ACH and domestic and international wire transfers.
• Build and improve CI infrastructure for distributed systems, including testing lambdas and microservices with Ministack, Wiremock, Localstack, and PostgreSQL.
• Drive shift-left quality practices by embedding with engineering teams, participating in sprint ceremonies, and enabling developers to write tests as part of delivery.
• Identify quality-operations bottlenecks and build internal tools that improve developer experience with minimal third-party dependency.
• Mentor junior quality engineers and contribute to the direction and larger initiatives of the Quality Engineering team.
• Collect and present defect and quality data to engineering leadership and executives.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building quality engineering systems from the ground up, including frameworks, test suites, and CI systems.
• Experience testing distributed systems such as services, lambdas, microservices, and real-time applications in CI.
• Deep understanding of distributed-system architecture, communication, scalability, resilience, and testing of complex systems.
• Ability to influence development teams, adopt quality practices, and work effectively in agile environments with ambiguity.
• Strong debugging skills using code, logs, and traces to identify root causes.
• Ability to analyze quality data from multiple sources and present meaningful findings to a broad audience, including executives; practical use of AI tools is required.

• Mobile testing experience with Detox.
• Experience with AWS systems.
