Senior Software Developer in Test SDET (AWS)

Location: Remote role associated with Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Salary: $84,000–$123,200 base salary annually for Canada-based roles; offers may exceed this range and may include bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks.
• Create automated tests for backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and end-to-end workflows.
• Develop testing strategies for interactive maps, geospatial data, dynamic visualizations, and other non-standard UI components.
• Validate AWS-hosted cloud-native applications across distributed architectures.
• Troubleshoot test and application failures, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams on resolutions.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and promote quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software development and test automation.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with Cypress or Playwright and API testing tools such as REST Assured or Supertest.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with AWS services, including Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting applications deployed in AWS environments.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, solve complex problems, and collaborate effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience with GIS/geospatial features, data visualizations, canvas-based applications, or highly interactive interfaces.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
