Senior Software Developer in Test SDET (AWS)

Location: Remote role associated with Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; in-person onboarding and/or identity verification may be required.

Salary: CAD 84,000–123,200 starting base salary annually for Canada-based roles; offers may exceed this range and may include annual cash bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable, and reliable test automation frameworks.
• Create and execute automated tests for backend services, REST APIs, integrations, and end-to-end user workflows.
• Design automation strategies for interactive maps, geospatial data, dynamic visualizations, and other non-standard UI components.
• Validate cloud-native applications deployed on AWS across distributed architectures.
• Troubleshoot application and test failures, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and partner with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and DevOps teams throughout the SDLC.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in Software Development and Test Automation.
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Extensive hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright.
• Experience with API testing tools such as REST Assured, Supertest, or equivalent frameworks.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS services, including Lambda, S3, and DynamoDB.
• Experience validating, troubleshooting, and testing applications deployed in AWS environments.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of testing initiatives, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal guidance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience testing microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience validating interactive maps, GIS/geospatial features, data visualizations, canvas-based applications, or other highly interactive user interfaces.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
