Staff Data Platform Engineer (Finance)

Location: New York City or San Francisco, United States

Salary: $260,000–$360,000 annual base pay in San Francisco; compensation may be adjusted based on employee location and may include benefits, equity, and bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design and develop a finance data platform supporting revenue recognition, consumption-based billing, financial reporting, and forecasting across batch and real-time workloads.
• Build usage and billing pipelines with Kafka and streaming technologies to support revenue and consumption forecasts.
• Partner with FP&A, Accounting, Revenue Operations, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Internal Audit to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical architecture.
• Establish data ingestion, transformation, storage, modeling, ETL, lineage, governance, monitoring, and alerting standards using ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and related technologies.
• Drive architecture and roadmap decisions, evaluate build-versus-buy options, and improve platform scalability, availability, fault tolerance, and auditability.
• Write production-grade code, mentor engineers, and collaborate with data science and FP&A teams on forecasting, incrementality analysis, and revenue modeling.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles, including at least 2 years at Staff, Principal, or Lead Engineer level.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale data infrastructure in complex environments.
• Experience with Kafka and its ecosystem, ClickHouse, Tinybird, Snowflake, and broader big data frameworks.
• Experience building pipelines for financial reporting, revenue recognition, billing, or consumption-based pricing.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and associated data services.
• Strong data governance, security, compliance, communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills, including experience supporting SOX or SOC 2 requirements.

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with NetSuite, Workday, ERP systems, or billing platforms.
