Sr. Data Modeler

Location: New York, NY, USA; an in-person interview at a company location may be required before hiring.

Salary: USD 165,000–195,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Establish and govern the enterprise-wide North Star Data Model across core business domains.
• Define conceptual, logical, and physical models, canonical entities, shared dimensions, identifiers, relationships, and lifecycle states.
• Model Bronze, Silver, and Gold data layers, including lineage, data contracts, quality rules, semantic models, and certified metrics.
• Partner with Product Managers, domain experts, Data Engineering, BI, Architecture, Governance, and Security teams to translate business needs into implementable models.
• Facilitate architecture and design reviews, provide reusable modeling patterns and coaching, and guide physical implementations for performance, privacy, cost, and scale.
• Define stewardship, ownership, metadata, retention, access-control, regional variation, and decision-rights standards for enterprise data.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data modeling, data architecture, data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical models for complex, multi-domain data platforms.
• Experience with enterprise, canonical, semantic, ontology, or common data models.
• Strong knowledge of dimensional and normalized modeling, data vault or equivalent integration patterns, and lakehouse or warehouse design.
• Practical expertise in metadata, lineage, data quality, governance, master and reference data, and data privacy.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and delivery teams without direct authority.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Snowflake, or comparable cloud data platforms.
• Experience with data catalogs, modeling tools, and metadata-management platforms.
• Experience supporting global products, multi-region data, regulatory requirements, or data residency.
• Experience designing governed semantic models and metrics for BI, natural-language data experiences, or AI applications.
• Experience in regulated, high-scale, or operationally sensitive environments.
