Director of Engineering, Investment Data & Analytics (Data Engineering)

Location: Boston, United States; hybrid work arrangement. The role provides 18 remote workdays per quarter with manager approval, while regular office attendance is expected.

Base salary: $220,000–$230,000 USD annually, plus a discretionary annual bonus and potential long-term rewards and benefits.

What you will do

• Own the design and delivery of data pipelines and models across financial and economic datasets.
• Lead the development of reliable and secure cloud data systems supporting investment, fund, and portfolio workflows.
• Establish standards for data accuracy, lineage, observability, and service levels.
• Mentor engineers, lead design and code reviews, and raise engineering standards.
• Partner with investors and quantitative researchers to turn ambiguous investment problems into production-ready technical solutions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of data engineering and software delivery experience preferred.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production cloud data platforms with batch and incremental processing.
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Snowflake or equivalent cloud warehouses, DBT, Dagster or Airflow, and Azure data tooling.
• Depth in data modeling, ETL/ELT, data quality, testing, observability, and production support.
• 3–5 years of technical project leadership experience and a track record of mentoring engineers and delivering data products.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
