Poland - Director of Software Engineering (Experiences)

Location: Poland, within a generally maximum 1.5-hour commutable distance from the Krakow office. Remote-first work with periodic in-person gatherings at the closest office.

What you will do

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team through hiring, training, mentoring, and career development.
• Manage, coach, and develop Engineering Managers while providing performance feedback and formal career planning.
• Plan projects, timelines, budgets, resources, and delivery commitments.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership across multiple software and data stack layers, including code and design reviews.
• Shape technology strategy and roadmaps with Principal Engineers, Product Managers, and business owners.
• Set engineering standards, manage risks, and ensure high-quality execution and operational performance.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience as a second-line engineering leader with direct responsibility for Engineering Managers.
• Background in a product-focused company and close collaboration with business and product stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience designing and building scalable, high-performance systems.
• Strong analytical, communication, mentorship, Agile development, and project management skills.
• Ability to make high-level product and technical decisions while balancing business objectives and engineering capabilities.
