Field Application Scientist (Liquid Handling)

Location: Remote, ideally based in the San Diego area, United States; extensive travel throughout the Southwest USA, with occasional travel to the Eastern USA and the UK headquarters.

What you will do

• Organize and run product demonstrations for liquid handling instruments.
• Provide expert application support, training, and troubleshooting to new and existing users remotely and in person.
• Develop, modify, and enhance advanced liquid handling and laboratory automation protocols.
• Support sales, territory management, field application, and marketing activities with scientific expertise and customer feedback.
• Create customer-driven application notes, webinars, conference presentations, and posters.
• Mentor Associate Field Application Scientists and maintain accurate Salesforce records.

Requirements

• MSc with at least five years of practical experience, or PhD with at least two years of practical experience, in biological science, liquid handling, laboratory automation, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of NGS methods and understanding of genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology.
• Experience optimizing workflows in genomics, drug discovery, and structural biology.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, up to 75%, including internationally.
• Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, communication, presentation, and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with liquid handling and laboratory automation, including HTS, assay development, molecular biology, or structural biology.
• Practical genomics or molecular biology experience.
• Previous experience in field applications, teaching, marketing, or customer service.
