Mid-Level AI Data Engineer (Generative AI)

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; on-site work. U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance are required.

Salary: $115,000–$155,000 annually

What you will do

• Build and optimize data pipelines that prepare, clean, and structure data for generative AI and LLM applications.
• Manage cloud-based data lakes and warehouses across AWS, Azure, and GCP, including Bronze, Silver, and Gold medallion architecture.
• Model, query, load, monitor, and tune large-scale SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, and data scientists to develop operational agentic AI systems.
• Automate model deployment with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration.
• Monitor production AI systems, improve performance and reliability, and document reproducible development practices.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data/AI/ML, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of hands-on experience delivering data, AI, or ML solutions.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, enterprise data and storage systems, cloud platforms, and technologies such as Kafka, Databricks, Snowflake, AWS S3, Bedrock, Glue, OpenSearch, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, generative AI, LLMs, tool calls, agents, AI APIs, and RAG search.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, VS Code, and AI coding extensions such as Cline or Claude Code.

Nice to have

• Python proficiency with tools and frameworks including PySpark, Pandas, Pydantic, FastAPI, CrewAI, LangChain, LangGraph, or Unstructured.
• Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Experience with agentic frameworks such as Agent2Agent Protocol, AWS Bedrock Agents, Mastra, CrewAI, Strands, or AgentCore.
• Knowledge of federal cybersecurity, RMF, FedRAMP, or related regulatory frameworks.
• Exposure to data science, UI/UX, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.
