Senior Software Engineer - Applied AI

What you will do

• Identify and prioritize opportunities to automate insurance business processes with AI, intelligent workflows, and agent-based systems.
• Architect, build, deploy, and operate AI solutions for automation, document intelligence, decision support, and intelligent assistants.
• Design agentic workflows that orchestrate tools, APIs, reasoning steps, and business logic at scale.
• Develop production services with strong scalability, resilience, performance, security, availability, and monitoring.
• Use knowledge graphs, retrieval-augmented generation, and vector databases to improve reasoning and context retrieval.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, analytics, and domain experts while mentoring engineers and scientists.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering or applied machine learning experience, including 1+ year with Generative AI or LLM-based systems in production.
• Strong Python skills and hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and OpenAI or Anthropic APIs.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production AI systems, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation features.
• Strong knowledge of agent architectures, workflow orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, knowledge graphs, distributed systems, and reliability engineering.
• Experience mentoring engineers and delivering measurable business outcomes with AI solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with domain-tuned LLMs, vector reasoning, or specialized retrieval architectures.
• Background in insurance, financial services, document intelligence, fraud detection, anomaly detection, ontology design, or knowledge graphs.
• Experience deploying AI components in Java ecosystems such as Spring AI, LangChain4j, or Embabel.
• Knowledge of AI safety, evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to communicate complex technical topics to senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
