Equipment Engineering Specialist IV (Sputter Deposition)

Location: On-site at the Fremont USA Research Center, Fremont, United States. Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. No travel required.

Salary: $31.21–$45.48 per hour.

hirify.global develops data-storage technologies, with this role supporting media development and technology integration through sputter deposition coating systems.

What you will do

• Plan and execute equipment system upgrades, hardware modifications, configuration changes, installations, and post-installation validation.
• Lead vacuum-system maintenance, troubleshooting, reconfiguration, preventive maintenance, and readiness activities for R&D operations.
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with engineers, technologists, and operators.
• Prepare daily pass-down reports and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
• Improve equipment reliability, uptime, and process performance.
• Follow cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and operational procedures.

Requirements

• Expertise in high- and ultra-high-vacuum principles, leak detection, and gas-flow dynamics.
• Experience with Pirani, cold-cathode, and ion gauges, including calibration and data interpretation.
• Strong electrical fundamentals, power-supply troubleshooting, PLC interface understanding, and the ability to read electrical schematics.
• Hands-on mechanical experience with equipment assembly and maintenance, engineering drawings, and system layouts.
• Experience scheduling, executing, documenting, and reporting preventive maintenance.
• Must be available to work on-site Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Nice to have

• Experience with rotary vane, scroll, turbomolecular, or cryogenic pumps and helium leak testing.
• Experience with sputter deposition systems in an R&D or manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of automation, material transport systems, BOMs, equipment architecture, PLM, ECNs, and engineering change control.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
