Senior Manager Cost Optimization - Building System (Process & Industrialization Focus)

Location: Berlin, Germany; flexible hybrid work with regular in-person collaboration and business travel between sites expected.

What you will do

• Develop and implement the Building Systems Cost Optimization strategy across the product portfolio.
• Apply design-to-cost, should-cost, value engineering, and target-costing methods across product development, manufacturing, procurement, and construction.
• Identify, analyze, and prioritize cost optimization opportunities for building systems, components, materials, and construction interfaces.
• Develop and maintain transparent cost models and benchmarks, comparing estimated and actual cost performance.
• Drive cross-functional cost optimization initiatives and support the implementation of improvement measures.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Construction, and R&D teams to embed cost awareness in decision-making.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in cost engineering, product costing, value engineering, industrial engineering, operational excellence, or cost optimization in automotive, aviation, shipbuilding, lean manufacturing, high-volume production, or similar industrial environments.
• Strong experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to achieve measurable cost, productivity, and efficiency improvements.
• Proven record of delivering measurable cost reductions and business impact through cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong analytical ability to translate technical solutions into financial outcomes.
• Fluent English language skills required.
• Regular business travel between company sites is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrialized construction, modular building systems, or prefabricated housing.
• Knowledge of timber construction, German-speaking construction markets, and digital costing tools.
• Understanding of construction methodologies, materials, contractor interfaces, and project cost drivers.
• Fluent German language skills.
