Senior Systems Engineer (Networking)

Location: Remote, based in Canberra, Melbourne, or Brisbane, Australia; regional travel may be required.

OTE: AUD 220,000–235,000 annually, with a 70/30 split based on qualifications and experience.

What you will do

• Support enterprise networking solution sales across the ANZ region in collaboration with sales teams, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead discovery sessions, solution design, technical validation, architectural workshops, and proof-of-concept deployments.
• Present and demonstrate wired, wireless, SD-WAN, data center, cloud-managed networking, access control, and analytics solutions.
• Troubleshoot complex customer environments using protocol knowledge, traffic analysis, and packet capture tools.
• Use Python, Shell, or similar scripting to support automation and testing.
• Connect customers with product and engineering teams to communicate feedback and maintain solution alignment.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, or technical consulting within the networking industry.
• In-depth knowledge of enterprise network protocols and technologies, including OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, VXLAN, VRRP, MLAG, LACP, IGMP, PIM, SPBM, 802.1X, and RADIUS.
• Hands-on experience with network simulation, testing tools, and packet capture analysis.
• Familiarity with wired, wireless, SD-WAN, network management, cloud-managed networking platforms, and security or automation integrations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, network engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong communication, customer engagement, independent work, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience with Ansible, Python scripting, or other network automation tools.
• Networking, wireless, access control, cloud, AI, vendor-neutral, or industry-recognized vendor certifications.
• AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Microsoft AI, or hirify.global certifications.
