Senior Corporate Counsel, Contracts (Biotechnology)

Location: Alameda, California, United States; primarily onsite in an office environment

Salary: $222,000–$316,000 annually, adjusted according to geographic market, experience, skills, and internal equity.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and independently negotiate contracts supporting research and development activities.
• Handle confidentiality, collaboration, licensing, consulting, materials transfer, clinical trial, advisory board, vendor services, and cGMP drug supply agreements.
• Serve as the legal point person for ongoing R&D agreements.
• Review redlines, supervise negotiations, and provide guidance to junior attorneys and contracts managers.
• Maintain current form agreements aligned with industry standards and applicable laws.
• Identify, define, and communicate legal and operational risks while collaborating with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• JD degree and at least 6–8 years of relevant legal experience.
• Admission to practice law, preferably in California.
• Attorney experience in a law firm or in-house legal environment within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts supporting drug research and development.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, meet deadlines, and work effectively with cross-functional colleagues.
