AI Principal Engineer - Clinical Data Analytics

Location: Alameda, California, United States. The role includes approximately 30% global travel.

Base salary: $172,000–$245,000 annually, depending on geographic market, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

What you will do

• Build, deploy, evaluate, monitor, and manage the lifecycle of production AI/ML and Generative AI solutions.
• Lead MLOps and LLMOps practices, including model deployment, prompt and version management, monitoring, and governance.
• Design and evolve cloud-native data architectures, data warehouses, data lakes, data pipelines, reusable data models, semantic layers, and APIs.
• Partner with DSS and business leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver outcome-driven analytics and AI use cases.
• Establish harmonized metrics, KPIs, insight frameworks, and governed data products for data-driven decision-making.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Security, infrastructure, and IT teams to deliver reliable, secure, explainable, and compliant AI platforms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 11 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with at least 9 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Advanced experience with Databricks, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, lakehouse governance, Python, SQL, data modeling, data integration, DevOps, and data governance.
• Advanced expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, Lambda, Glue, and Redshift, as well as BI platforms such as Spotfire, Tableau, and Power BI.
• Experience leading data acquisition, analytics, and AI capabilities across multiple clinical domains and working with classified sensitive data.
• Knowledge of metadata management, data lineage, enterprise data governance, cataloging tools, CI/CD, version control, and warehouse architecture.
• Advanced knowledge of pharmaceutical or CRO industry practices and clinical data strategy and insights, including experience in a GxP-governed enterprise.
