Principal Decision Intelligence Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Boston, Massachusetts, with occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings. Work requires a dedicated home workspace and reliable 25 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload internet.

Salary: $187,900–$258,500 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end decision system, including feature engineering, optimization, scoring, deployment, production monitoring, and feedback loops.
• Design decision intelligence architecture that determines the right action, timing, and communication channel for each member.
• Build member feature layers on Databricks Lakehouse using clinical, behavioral, clickstream, and socioeconomic signals.
• Develop planning, reward, constraint, policy evaluation, experimentation, and measurement frameworks.
• Lead engineers across design reviews, delivery, services, APIs, infrastructure, and technical quality.
• Mentor engineers and champion AI-assisted development tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot.

Requirements

• Hybrid work in Boston, Massachusetts with occasional office travel required.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience involving data-intensive applications, applied AI, or decision systems.
• 2–5 years of product people leadership and experience leading multifunctional technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of optimization, sequential decision-making, objective functions, constraints, reward structures, and experimental design.
• Hands-on experience with Python, backend services, data pipelines, AI/ML tooling, and cloud data platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree.
• Production experience with linear programming, integer programming, or constraint-based optimization.
• Experience with personalization, recommendation systems, or next-best-action platforms.
• Kafka event pipelines, real-time feedback loops, causal inference, or uplift modeling.
• Healthcare, insurance, or other regulated-industry experience involving PHI or HIPAA constraints.
