Principal Embedded Software Engineer (QNX)

Location: Erlangen, Germany; work at the Erlangen site

What you will do

• Define and drive embedded software architecture and requirements across technical, regulatory, lifecycle, and organizational needs.
• Lead, guide, and coordinate internal and external software development and test teams.
• Develop robust, high-quality QNX software in line with harmonization and quality standards.
• Implement and optimize AI-driven development workflows, including agent environments, context engineering, MCP, and HIL integration.
• Drive CI/CD adoption for builds, testing, documentation, and reporting while maintaining software quality processes.
• Oversee the development lifecycle from requirements through validation, including documentation, contractual compliance, IP, and patent activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience and at least 2 years of technical leadership.
• Degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
• Fluent English and intermediate German required.
• Strong experience designing embedded-system architectures with QNX and hands-on C++ application development on QNX.
• Experience leading distributed, multi-location software teams and working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps or similar tools, feature-driven development, time-boxing, CMake, Conan, and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, automotive, or aerospace.
• Familiarity with medical software, gRPC, hardware drivers, or FPGA technologies.
