Focus on debugging flight and ground systems, implementing microcontroller firmware, and solving complex integration challenges across batteries, sensors, computers, ESCs, and communication interfaces.
Location: On-site in Wessling, Bayern, Germany
Company
Develops and produces small unmanned aerial systems, including electric vertical take-off and landing platforms, for defense, security, and public-sector applications.
What you will do
Design PCBs from schematic capture through layout, manufacturing data, bring-up, prototyping, rework, and production preparation.
Develop electronics architectures covering power distribution, signal routing, communication interfaces, and system wake/sleep behavior.
Design cable harnesses, connectors, pinouts, contact systems, and mechanical-electrical interfaces.
Address EMC, grounding, shielding, signal integrity, and reliable communication in demanding operational conditions.
Implement and debug basic microcontroller firmware for battery management, power-state control, wake-up logic, charging, and system supervision.
Integrate electronics across flight computers, guidance computers, ESCs, batteries, sensors, antennas, charging infrastructure, and ground systems; support field and flight-test debugging.
Requirements
Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, mechatronics, or a comparable field.
Practical experience with PCB design, schematic capture, layout, bring-up, debugging, and laboratory equipment.
Understanding of embedded communication protocols, power distribution, connectors, cable harnesses, and electronics integration.
Ability to write or debug basic embedded firmware in C, C++, Rust, or Python.
Structured approach to documentation, pinouts, revision management, BOMs, and production handover.
Ability to collaborate across electronics, mechanics, software, production, and testing.
Nice to have
Experience with UAVs, robotics, automotive electronics, aerospace electronics, or defense systems.
Experience with high-current systems, battery interfaces, chargers, ESCs, or propulsion electronics.
Familiarity with EMC testing, environmental testing, safety-critical hardware, or mass-production electronics.
Work on next-generation defense and unmanned aerial systems.
Fast-paced, agile environment with opportunities to contribute ideas and impact product development.
Collaboration with an experienced, multidisciplinary engineering team.
Opportunities for individual and professional growth.
