Senior Software Engineer, AI Tools (MXC)

Location: Remote, based in Mexico; must reside in Mexico and have the legal right to work there. An office is available in Mexico City, but office attendance is optional.

What you will do

• Design and build AI agents and skills for engineering workflows, including test generation, code review assistance, and CI feedback.
• Extend AI-assisted development workflows from planning and implementation through testing, code review, and CI.
• Improve and modularize local development environments and reduce friction in local development, testing, and CI.
• Build internal tools that improve engineering productivity and developer experience.
• Collaborate with engineers across teams to shape, adopt, and continuously improve AI-assisted workflows.
• Drive adoption through practical collaboration and useful tools rather than mandates.

Requirements

• Daily hands-on experience using modern AI coding tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar.
• Experience extending AI tooling through custom agents, skills, prompts, MCP servers, or similar approaches.
• 6–8 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong coding and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience building systems or tools used by other engineers.
• Strong backend engineering experience with the ability to contribute across the full stack.
• Experience with Docker, local development environments, and CI systems.
• Familiarity with automated testing and test performance issues.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend-oriented language: Python preferred; JavaScript or TypeScript also considered.
• Experience with AWS and PostgreSQL is required.
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment, with outstanding written and oral communication skills and effective cross-functional collaboration.
• English proficiency in written and oral communication is required.
• Must have the legal right to work in Mexico now and in the future without sponsorship.
