Solution Architect

Location: Remote in Germany; hybrid or fully onsite work is also possible due to proximity to company locations. Workation is available across the EU.

What you will do

• Develop solution architecture across software, infrastructure, and networking.
• Evolve a landscape combining a 15-year-old PHP monolith with a newer microservice system and message broker.
• Retire legacy systems where appropriate while maintaining clean architecture under business pressure.
• Own or co-design architecture decisions and governance, ensuring transparency across teams.
• Define processes, support architectural standards, and mentor engineers depending on level.

Requirements

• Architectural knowledge of complex, distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of the hosting domain and VPS services.
• Experience with systems modeling using UML, C4, BPMN, ERD, or FMC and tools such as Drawio, Visio, or Mermaid.
• At least 5 years of experience, including 2 or more years focused on architecture; the senior level requires 7 or more years of experience.
• Fluent German and English are required.
• For the senior level: full architecture ownership, governance responsibility, and expertise in scaling, resilience, and redundancy.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience migrating monolithic systems to microservices.
• Mentoring experience and interest in knowledge sharing.
• Use of AI tools such as Claude Code in everyday development.
