What you will do

  • Direct clinical care for sick and injured mice and provide bio-methods or surgical training to staff.
  • Serve as a veterinary member of the Animal Care and Use Committee, including protocol review and policy development.
  • Address employee and customer questions concerning mouse care, use, health, and welfare.
  • Support Animal Welfare and Compliance in resolving animal-care issues and maintaining regulatory and AAALACi compliance.
  • Participate in research studies, data analysis, reporting, and conference presentations.
  • Investigate unusual clinical cases and suspected infectious diseases with pathology, diagnostic services, and biosecurity specialists; sign and negotiate health certificates.

Requirements

  • DVM or VMD degree.
  • U.S. license to practice veterinary medicine and eligibility for applicable state licensure and USDA accreditation.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a laboratory animal veterinarian.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications, laws, and codes related to regulatory compliance.
  • Strong judgment, organization, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Nice to have

  • Board eligibility or certification in a relevant veterinary specialty, such as ACLAM.
