Senior Integration & Systems Engineer (Linux)

Location: Fully remote workforce

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and maintain scripts, services, and scheduled interfaces exchanging data with hospitals, HIEs, payers, and partners.
• Monitor interfaces and resolve failed, delayed, or rejected transactions through confirmed delivery.
• Launch integrations from specification and testing through production cutover and documentation.
• Administer source control, builds, releases, backups, rollback procedures, and customer-hosted Linux systems.
• Lead the transition to Git, automated builds, and CI/CD while modernizing end-of-life operating systems.
• Coordinate with customer IT and security teams during maintenance, incidents, implementations, and go-lives; participate in on-call coverage and after-hours maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience in Linux systems administration, DevOps, or systems/integration engineering where availability is critical.
• Strong Bash/POSIX shell scripting skills, including error handling, logging, and idempotent behavior.
• In-depth experience with Red Hat-family Linux, including storage, permissions, services, package management, networking, firewalls, SELinux, SSH, logging, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with customer-managed on-premises or cloud environments, VPNs, MFA, jump hosts, change control, maintenance windows, and security coordination.
• Experience with SFTP/FTPS, HTTPS/REST, certificates, credentials, Git, C application builds on Linux, makefiles, and controlled production deployments.
• Ability to work under HIPAA requirements, pass a background check, use AI-assisted development tools daily, and participate in on-call and scheduled after-hours maintenance.

Nice to have

• Healthcare interface experience with HL7 v2, C-CDA/CCD, IHE XDS.b, X12 EDI, Direct secure messaging, or HIE integrations.
• Experience with EHR, practice-management, revenue-cycle, ISAM, FairCom c-tree, Btrieve, AlphaBASIC, COBOL, or MUMPS systems.
• Microsoft Azure IaaS, operating-system migrations, infrastructure as code, containers, monitoring platforms, Python, or Perl experience.
• Experience migrating CVS to Git and building CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with HIPAA Security Rule safeguards, SOC 2, HITRUST, or advanced Claude Code features.
