Director, People & Culture

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, with 3 days in the office and the remaining days fully remote

Salary: CA$120K–CA$140K annually

What you will do

• Develop and execute the people strategy with the CEO and Leadership Team, covering organizational design, workforce planning, succession, employee relations, performance management, and change management.
• Lead a small HR team and strengthen culture across Canadian and international teams through engagement, recognition, and company-wide initiatives.
• Own recruitment strategy, manage external search partners, support production hiring, and improve hiring quality, employer branding, and candidate experience.
• Coach managers through performance improvement and complex employee situations while leading semi-annual reviews, talent calibration, goal setting, and achievement reviews.
• Partner with the CEO and CFO on salary reviews, compensation planning, payroll, benefits, incentive plans, HR compliance, headcount, and workforce cost management using Rippling.
• Evaluate AI, automation, and technology opportunities across recruiting, HR operations, analytics, and employee experience, while supporting international workforce growth.

Requirements

• 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally in entrepreneurial or high-growth environments.
• Experience leading talent acquisition, performance management, compensation, payroll, employee relations, and organizational development.
• Strong leadership, coaching, communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to influence senior leaders while remaining hands-on.
• Experience supporting distributed teams; experience in Latin America or Europe is an asset.
• Experience with HRIS platforms such as Rippling and an interest in applying AI to People practices are preferred.
