Principal Scientist - In Vitro Pharmacology & Biology

Location: Lexington, Massachusetts, United States; collaboration with research facilities in Waltham, Cambridge, and Plainsboro.

Base compensation: $185,000–$230,000 per year, plus potential bonus and long-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead identification and evaluation of therapeutic targets and initiate drug discovery projects for the diabetes pipeline.
• Establish and apply molecular approaches, cellular assays, and read-outs to investigate drug candidates and their mechanisms of action.
• Develop, improve, design, and validate translational in vitro models for non-clinical studies and target maturation.
• Conduct, analyze, interpret, and summarize non-clinical in vitro studies while ensuring protocol and regulatory compliance.
• Support pipeline progression as a project manager and biological coordinator, collaborating with cross-functional research teams.
• Present findings to project teams, management, external collaborators, and regulatory stakeholders, while mentoring colleagues and guiding scientific work.

Requirements

• Master’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience, or PhD with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong scientific track record and thorough understanding of diabetes pathophysiology and relevant in vitro systems.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical research, drug discovery processes, and small-molecule development paths.
• Experience developing and improving in vitro models for non-clinical studies and exploring therapeutic targets.
• Ability to communicate and present scientific data internally, externally, and in regulatory submissions.
• Experience with systems biology, bioinformatic analysis, scRNA-seq/snRNA-seq, and RNA-seq analyses is preferred.
