What you will do

• Lead Gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease discovery research from target identification through preclinical development and first-in-human studies.
• Identify and validate therapeutic targets using patient-derived data, mucosal immunology, and humanized complex in vitro models, including organoid-based models.
• Direct in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, assay development, translational endpoint validation, and PKPD assessments.
• Develop drug discovery strategies, experimental designs, risk mitigation plans, and contingency approaches.
• Collaborate with Chemistry, Biotherapeutics, Genetic Medicine, Precision Medicine, Clinical Development, and external research partners.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing research team while communicating scientific direction to executive stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in science or PharmD with 14 years of related experience, or a PhD in science or a related field with 8 years of related experience.
• At least 15 years of industrial drug discovery experience, including significant leadership of teams and projects.
• Deep expertise in immunology and mucosal immunology, including immune and non-immune cells.
• Experience with primary humanized complex in vitro models, organoid-based models, in vitro and in vivo pharmacology, PKPD, and assay development.
• Proven record of advancing drug discovery programs from early research through preclinical and clinical transition.
• Experience managing and developing direct reports across multiple career levels, with strong communication and collaborative leadership skills.
