Senior Manager, Service Contractor Safety

Location: Thousand Oaks, California, United States. Travel of approximately 25% may be required, including regional, domestic, or international travel.

What you will do

• Lead the strategy, governance, implementation, and continuous improvement of the service contractor safety program.
• Establish safety standards, accountability models, training, scorecards, metrics, and escalation processes for contractors and subcontractors.
• Integrate contractor safety requirements into sourcing, contracting, onboarding, service planning, work execution, and performance management.
• Oversee safety plans, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, permits, inspections, observations, audits, and corrective actions for contracted services.
• Manage safety oversight for maintenance, facilities, utilities, calibration, security, logistics, waste management, and other site-support activities.
• Lead or support contractor incident and near-miss investigations, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree plus 2 years, master’s degree plus 6 years, bachelor’s degree plus 8 years, associate degree plus 10 years, or high school diploma/GED plus 12 years of experience in EHS, occupational safety, engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 2 years of direct people management or leadership experience involving teams, projects, programs, or resource allocation.
• Experience with contractor operations, facilities, manufacturing, maintenance, or other service environments is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of safety regulations, general industry standards, hazard identification, and sustainable risk-control solutions.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence senior leaders and contractor executives, and work independently under minimal direction.
• Professional safety certification such as CSP, CIH, CMIOSH, or an equivalent credential is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, manufacturing, or another regulated industry.
• Experience managing contractor safety programs across multiple sites, regions, service categories, or outsourced-service portfolios.
• Experience using technology, metrics, and data analytics to improve safety performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in EHS, occupational safety, engineering, or a related discipline; an advanced degree is preferred.
