2027 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship

Location: On-site at hirify.global manufacturing sites across New Zealand, including Canterbury, South Canterbury, Southland, Manawatū-Whanganui, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, and Northland.

What you will do

• Work alongside experienced tradespeople in a large-scale manufacturing environment.
• Diagnose equipment breakdowns and perform preventative, corrective, and shutdown maintenance.
• Plan and schedule maintenance activities.
• Maintain motors, pumps, valves, rotating equipment, boilers, and other site utilities.
• Develop practical skills in welding, fabrication, vibration analysis, automated manufacturing processes, and robotics.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve critical equipment to support safe and efficient operations.

Requirements

• Have achieved or be working toward NCEA Level 2 with Maths and English, or hold a relevant pre-trade qualification.
• Show interest and aptitude for practical, hands-on engineering work.
• Be motivated to solve problems, learn new skills, and work with different people in varied environments.
• Hold or be working toward obtaining a Restricted Driver Licence by the apprenticeship start date.
• Be a New Zealand Citizen, Australian Citizen, or New Zealand Permanent Resident.
• Be at least 16 years old.
