Software Engineer (AI/SaaS)

Location: Remote from Gauteng, South Africa

What you will do

• Build and ship end-to-end features across the backend, frontend, and AI pipeline.
• Develop with React, Node/Express, Postgres, AWS, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Help build AI-powered features using prompt engineering, context management, and AI evaluations.
• Investigate and fix production issues using Sentry, CloudWatch, and Postgres.
• Collaborate directly with the CTO and grant team to solve real user problems.
• Progressively take ownership of complete features and increasingly complex technical problems.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience, or recent university graduation with strong technical projects.
• Solid programming fundamentals and experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Curiosity and willingness to work across React, Node/Express, Postgres, and AWS.
• Strong self-motivation, ownership, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn how production software is built and operated.
• German language skills at B1 level or above are required.
• User-first mindset and an AI-native approach to software development.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI tools or LLM APIs through university or side projects.
• Side project, open-source contribution, or other independently built work.
• Familiarity with Claude Code or Cursor.
