Sr. Staff Technical Marketing Analyst (HDD)

Location: Remote in the United States; virtual employment is available only in AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, and WY. Travel up to 25%.

Salary: $145,000–$210,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain quantitative models based on HDD architecture, physics, component behavior, and system-level interactions.
• Model costs, sourcing implications, technology constraints, engineering tolerances, manufacturing flows, throughput, scrap, bottlenecks, and test coverage.
• Create forecasts, sensitivities, and scenario analyses using HDD market, customer, design, and factory assumptions.
• Build bottom-up HDD cost models and coordinate competitive cost teardowns and analysis.
• Translate technical and analytical findings into inputs for product roadmaps, pricing, warranty, customer discussions, and investment decisions.
• Partner with engineering, operations, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, finance, sales, pricing, and portfolio teams to influence decisions with data-backed insights.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in technical modeling, systems analysis, or technology strategy.
• Deep understanding of HDD architecture, physics, competitive markets, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including experience building and maintaining structured models.
• Ability to analyze ambiguous requirements and incomplete data and communicate complex tradeoffs clearly.
• Experience presenting to senior stakeholders or external customers and influencing cross-functional technical and business organizations.
• Experience with storage devices, hardware platforms, infrastructure systems, large-scale technology deployments, or storage-market total cost of ownership analysis; bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, applied sciences, operations research, or equivalent experience.
