Focus on synthesizing scientific and medical data, analyzing competitor launch scenarios, and coordinating hypothesis-driven research with internal teams, vendors, and key opinion leaders.

Location: Hybrid in Thousand Oaks, California, with attendance required two or three times per week

What you will do

  • Lead competitive intelligence gathering for R&D stakeholders and leadership teams across multiple pipeline assets.
  • Develop and present intelligence deliverables for R&D, commercial, and legal business partners.
  • Conduct hypothesis-driven primary and secondary research using clinical, scientific, regulatory, financial, market, and patent data sources.
  • Synthesize findings from scientific and medical conferences into detailed internal reports.
  • Manage competitive intelligence vendors and coordinate research with key opinion leaders, clinical trial investigators, physicians, medical science liaisons, field teams, and investor relations.
  • Analyze clinical trials, regulatory considerations, patent landscapes, competitor launch timing, and market-share scenarios.

Requirements

  • Doctorate degree; or a master’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or an associate degree plus 8 years; or a high school diploma/GED plus 10 years.
  • Relevant experience may include competitive intelligence, business development, tech transfer, equity research, consulting, or patent law.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to produce concise insights from complex scientific data for stakeholders at different levels and across functions.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical discovery and development, clinical trials, FDA and EMA regulation, and drug commercialization.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working with technical, regulatory, financial, clinical, scientific, and patent information sources.
  • Ability to support therapeutic-area strategy, long-range planning, go/no-go decisions, and business development opportunity assessments.

Nice to have

  • Experience with early pipeline development and assessment in BD CI, R&D CI, business development, equity research, tech transfer, patent law, or a similar function.
  • Experience with resources such as TrialTrove, Cortellis Intelligence, Evaluate Pharma, PubMed, AlphaSense, FactSet, and USPTO patents.
