APAC Financial Controller

Location: Shugart, Singapore. Travel: None.

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes across APAC entities and ensure accurate reporting under US GAAP, IFRS, local statutory, SOX, and regulatory requirements.
• Review accounting entries, reconciliations, disclosures, consolidation deliverables, statutory financial statements, local filings, and legal entity compliance calendars.
• Maintain internal controls, lead SOX activities, statutory and internal audits, remediation, audit issue resolution, corrective actions, and audit documentation.
• Partner with Tax and Treasury on transfer pricing implementation, permanent establishment risk, intercompany arrangements, cash repatriation, foreign currency matters, and Pillar Two reporting.
• Lead regional payroll strategy and oversight, including payroll standardization, transformation, service-provider governance, controls, compliance, continuity, and business resilience.
• Steward working capital, balance sheet integrity, accounting policies, legal entity governance, cross-functional collaboration, and SAP, automation, AI, and digital transformation initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
• Recognized professional accounting qualification such as CPA, Chartered Accountant, ACCA, or an equivalent national qualification.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS, local statutory accounting across major APAC jurisdictions, internal controls, SOX compliance, consolidation, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency accounting.
• 12–18 years of progressive finance experience, including 5–8 years in controllership, finance director, or regional leadership roles.
• Experience managing multiple APAC countries, legal entities, and shared-service relationships.
• Proven ownership of financial close, regional consolidation and reporting, statutory audits, financial statements, balance sheet governance, reconciliations, SOX compliance, audit remediation, accounting policy implementation, intercompany accounting, transfer-pricing operational compliance, and legal entity governance.
• Experience leading regional finance and controllership teams, developing capabilities and succession plans, and promoting integrity, accountability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to partner with Tax, Treasury, Legal, Operations, Supply Chain, Shared Services, Corporate Accounting, HR, and Global Security while balancing governance with business improvement.
