Senior Systems Engineer, IT Infrastructure & Cloud Solutions

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Annual base salary: $103,300–$141,000, plus a target annual bonus of 20% and eligibility for an equity-based long-term incentive program.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise vulnerability remediation across Linux, Windows, AWS, Azure, network, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure.
• Plan, test, sequence, deploy, and validate security patches, including rollback planning and impact assessment.
• Design and improve scalable patch-management automation using AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager, scripting, configuration management, and orchestration tools.
• Translate cybersecurity findings, audit actions, and policy requirements into technical remediation plans, controls, owners, and timelines.
• Establish KPIs and reporting for patch compliance, remediation time, open-finding age, and risk trends.
• Coordinate infrastructure, network, cloud, scientific systems, cybersecurity, audit, and compliance stakeholders while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, master’s degree with 2+ years, or 8+ years of relevant combined education and systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on enterprise Linux and Windows administration, hardening, security patching, vulnerability remediation, and automation experience.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, hybrid infrastructure, AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager, WSUS, SCCM or Intune, Ansible, and Linux package-management tooling.
• Working knowledge of vulnerability management, application-layer remediation, ITIL or similar change management, ServiceNow, and identity and access management.
• Familiarity with regulated-environment requirements including GxP, SOX, data integrity, and 21 CFR Part 11 concepts.
• Experience creating SOPs, audit-ready documentation, remediation evidence, KPI reporting, and cross-functional project tracking.

Nice to have

• CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, RHCE, Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, or ITIL Foundation certification.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center, vulnerability scanners, and cloud security posture management tools.
