Counsel, Product Legal (Lending)

Location: Hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York City, United States

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 annual base salary, plus potential equity and bonus.

What you will do

• Advise product teams, local legal teams, support functions, management, and the Legal, Risk, and Compliance Department.
• Negotiate customer partnerships and draft commercial sales agreements for major deals.
• Support complex and novel agreements with strategic partners.
• Coordinate with local counsel across Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.
• Manage external counsel and consultants on regulatory matters.
• Support government relations outreach to legislators and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a lawyer at a top firm, in-house, or in a combination of both.
• Experience advising Product and supporting Sales with commercial documents and terms.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, drafting, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Proactive, results-driven approach with strong ownership, professionalism, integrity, and work ethic.
• Ability to master new areas of law quickly and provide practical guidance in complex situations.

Nice to have

• In-house legal experience in fintech or financial institutions.
• Expertise in payments, card networks, banking, or fintech.
• Experience working with stakeholders across multiple regions.
