Assistant General Counsel, Product & Commercial (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Mountain View, California, with on-site expectations of 3 days per week.

Salary: $266,000–$360,000 base pay, with potential eligibility for cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise on end-to-end product launches and lifecycle management for lending and credit card products.
• Provide business-focused guidance on federal and state lending laws, privacy, risk, marketing, compliance, and bank partnerships.
• Support product strategy across ideation, content design, user flows, engineering, go-to-market, servicing, and collections.
• Draft and negotiate complex agreements with banks and other strategic partners.
• Lead collaboration with finance, accounting, capital markets, credit and risk, marketing, and operations stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel when needed.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in law firms, government agencies, or in-house legal departments.
• Experience launching products and advising on legal and regulatory matters in financial services, banking, or fintech.
• Knowledge of lending product laws and regulations, including UDAP, FCRA, ECOA, TILA/Regulation Z, and the CARD Act.
• Experience with bank partnerships, servicing and collections, and complex third-party agreements.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work with minimal supervision and communicate legal strategy clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or equivalent foreign legal education, plus good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
