Product & Commercial Counsel (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in Mountain View, California

Salary: $266,000–$360,000 annual base pay in Mountain View, plus potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise product teams on the end-to-end development, launch, and lifecycle management of lending and credit card products.
• Provide business-focused legal and regulatory guidance on lending laws, data privacy and protection, risk, marketing, bank partnerships, servicing, and collections.
• Support product strategy, ideation, content design, user flows, engineering, go-to-market activities, marketing agreements, terms of service, compliance, and operations.
• Draft and negotiate agreements with banks and other strategic partners.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel when needed.
• Collaborate with finance, accounting, capital markets, credit and risk, marketing, servicing, and collections stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of combined relevant legal experience in law firms, governmental agencies, or in-house legal departments.
• Experience launching products and advising on legal and regulatory matters in financial services, banking, or fintech.
• Knowledge of lending product laws and regulations, including UDAP, FCRA, ECOA, TILA/Regulation Z, and the CARD Act.
• Experience with lending programs, bank partnerships, and servicing and collections.
• Ability to lead cross-functional work with minimal supervision and communicate legal requirements and strategy to diverse stakeholders.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, or equivalent foreign legal education, and membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
