Director of Construction (Commercial and Industrial)

Location: Houston, United States; on-site. Regular presence is required in the Houston office and at active project sites, with occasional travel and extended hours during critical project phases.

What you will do

• Support constructability, risk, value-engineering, budgeting, scheduling, and execution planning from due diligence through construction documents.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, municipal authorities, inspectors, utility providers, and internal stakeholders.
• Support procurement activities, including RFPs, bid distribution, interviews, reference checks, bid tabs, and scope comparisons.
• Monitor contractor performance against contract, budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements; conduct site visits and OAC meetings.
• Review submittals, RFIs, change orders, payment applications, schedules, and project records while escalating significant risks.
• Coordinate punch lists, inspections, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranty documentation, turnover, and post-completion issue resolution.

Requirements

• 2–7 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, general contracting, construction management, engineering, architecture, development, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and payment applications.
• Strong organization, record-keeping, issue-resolution, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain regular presence in the Houston office and at active project sites.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• A bachelor's degree in construction management, construction science, civil engineering, architectural engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with commercial or industrial projects, including tilt-wall, warehouse, sitework, utilities, tenant improvement, or build-to-suit construction.
• Experience with a general contractor, owner/developer, construction manager, design firm, or engineering consultant.
• Exposure to permitting, municipal coordination, procurement, contract administration, and project closeout.
