Developer Relations Documentation Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, but candidates must be based in the San Francisco Bay metro area. No in-office requirement; occasional local or nearby evening and weekend events are required.

Salary: $100,000–$175,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

Arize AI is a product company building an AI observability and evaluation platform for developing, testing, monitoring, and improving reliable AI agents and applications.

What you will do

• Own the accuracy and health of product documentation for Arize AX and Arize Phoenix.
• Build automation to detect stale content, documentation-code drift, broken links, and failing code samples, while drafting updates for review.
• Design structured, machine-readable documentation that works for both developers and coding agents, and measure agent task completion using the docs.
• Write and refresh tutorials, cookbooks, and open-source demonstration repositories that help developers reach a working evaluation quickly.
• Coordinate documentation with integration partners, framework maintainers, course authors, and curriculum developers.
• Use community feedback to inform product roadmaps, support marketing content, and engage with developers through events and online communities.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in technical writing, documentation engineering, developer relations, or an engineering role involving substantial writing.
• Public-facing technical documentation, blog posts, or videos demonstrating excellent technical communication.
• Current engineering skills, including docs-as-code workflows, CI, repository-based development, and writing code that maintains documentation.
• Working knowledge of LLM-based application development, including agents, RAG, or orchestration frameworks.
• Interest in how agents read and use documentation, and in building tooling to support that use.
• Willingness to attend occasional in-person evening and weekend events in the local area or within a few hours of travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI evaluation and observability products.
• Experience automating documentation quality checks, including link checking, snippet testing, style linting, or LLM-assisted review.
• Knowledge of machine-readable documentation initiatives such as llms.txt or documentation MCP servers.
• Active participation in technical communities and experience contributing to open-source projects such as Arize Phoenix.
