Location: Remote in California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, or Washington, USA

Salary: $131,000–$193,000 USD per year, plus equity and possible variable compensation.

What you will do

• Manage 3–5 technical writer direct reports, including day-to-day support, performance development, career growth, and project planning.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to create and maintain documentation for products, features, SDKs, APIs, and developer tools.
• Research technical details by experimenting with the product, reviewing source code, and interviewing subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with the contributor community and Documentation team to improve documentation standards and processes.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience researching and developing documentation for technical subjects such as databases, APIs, cloud infrastructure, performance, and security monitoring.
• 2–5 years of experience managing a small team of technical writers.
• Publicly available technical writing samples.
• Ability to read at least two programming languages, such as Ruby, Python, Go, or Bash.
• Experience with documentation as code, IaaS cloud services, containers, Git/GitHub, and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience collaborating with product managers, developers, and subject matter experts.
