TL;DR
Leave of Absence Specialist (HR Compliance): Administering complex employee leave, disability, and workplace accommodation programs across a multi-state healthcare organization with an accent on FMLA, ADA, PWFA, USERRA, and state leave compliance. Focus on managing complex cases, monitoring regulatory changes, improving leave processes, and partnering with HR, Legal, Benefits, Payroll, and operational leaders.

Location: Hybrid in Draper, Utah; in-office at least one day per week

Provides centralized clinical, legal, HR, accounting, IT, and other support services to home health, hospice, home care, and senior living operations across 19 US states.

What you will do

  • Administer FMLA, ADA, PWFA, USERRA, state and local leave programs, company leaves, and disability-related absences.
  • Manage complex leave and accommodation cases in partnership with HR, Legal, Benefits, Payroll, Workers’ Compensation, HRIS, vendors, and operational leaders.
  • Develop and maintain leave policies, procedures, training materials, and employee communications.
  • Oversee premium collection for direct billing and COBRA.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Analyze leave trends, case volumes, and operational metrics to improve processes and employee experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing complex leaves in a multi-state environment, disability, and workplace accommodations.
  • Experience administering the ADA interactive process and strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PWFA, USERRA, and state and local leave laws.
  • Experience partnering with third-party leave administrators and vendors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal and state employment compliance rules and regulations.
  • Strong prioritization, listening, empathy, feedback, and relationship-building skills.

Nice to have

  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Shared services or centralized HR operations experience.
  • Experience with Workday HCM, including business processes, reporting, employee transactions, and leave workflows.
  • Experience with The Hartford’s leave administration platform.
