Senior Controls Engineer (Industrial Automation)

What you will do

• Lead electrical and controls design for custom drying and milling systems from concept through commissioning.
• Own the control system architecture, including PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, panel design, schematics, layouts, and I/O documentation.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering to integrate controls and mechanical systems.
• Provide technical guidance through design reviews, risk assessments, troubleshooting, and project delivery.
• Work with customers, vendors, and stakeholders to define requirements, present solutions, and support system training.
• Lead or support panel builds, on-site commissioning, startup activities, and mentoring of junior controls engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls/automation engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8–10 years of experience designing and programming controls for custom industrial process systems and machines.
• Advanced PLC programming experience with platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA development, electrical schematics, and industrial panel design.
• Understanding of mechanical system design and controls integration, plus experience specifying and quoting controls hardware and integration work with suppliers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, customer-facing, and technical mentoring skills.
