Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Dorset, South West UK; full onsite presence required

Salary: GBP 40,000–60,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the design and development of electrical systems and components for complex engineering projects.
• Produce and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation using EPLAN, Teamcenter, and similar tools.
• Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Oversee system integration, verification, and validation activities to meet performance and reliability targets.
• Lead technical reviews, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
• Investigate technical issues through root cause analysis and contribute to planning, scheduling, cost estimation, and risk management.

Requirements

• Senior-level electrical engineering or design experience in complex or regulated environments, with 3–10 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design tools, plus familiarity with PLM systems such as Teamcenter.
• Experience designing power distribution systems, control systems, and embedded electrical systems.
• Understanding of IEC, BS, IEEE, and other relevant engineering standards.
• Ability to make critical engineering decisions, lead technical reviews, and resolve design issues.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or an equivalent technical military background; willingness and eligibility to obtain BPSS security clearance.

• Experience in defence, maritime, aerospace, or other safety-critical environments.
