Control Systems Engineer (Offshore Energy)

What you will do

• Write technical specifications and develop PLC code and HMI/SCADA solutions for specialized equipment.
• Provide technical support during the construction phase, including hands-on commissioning and testing.
• Manage and prioritize individual workload to ensure project delivery within time and budget constraints.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks from initial design through to final installation and documentation.
• Deliver high-quality work in accordance with established software quality control procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to work from the Newcastle office, Port of Blyth facility, and travel to international client sites.
• Strong technical knowledge of control, automation, and safety systems.
• Relevant engineering qualification (degree/HND) or equivalent industrial experience.
• Proven experience in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming and system design.
• Experience in commissioning and testing industrial control systems.
• Familiarity with project lifecycles in marine, subsea, or oil and gas environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal/Unified, Rockwell, or Mitsubishi platforms.
• Knowledge of configuring Variable Speed Drives (Siemens, Nidec, ABB).
• Understanding of functional safety standards such as IEC61508, IEC61511, or IEC13849.
