Payroll Manager (AI Automation)

Location: Hybrid in London, with 2+ days per week in the Soho office

Salary: £70,000–£80,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead, coach and develop Senior Payroll Specialists, Payroll Specialists and Payroll Assistants.
• Review and sign off payroll output before it reaches enterprise clients.
• Act as the senior contact for client payrolls, handling onboarding and escalations hands-on.
• Advise clients on legislative and regulatory changes and maintain compliance through regular gap analysis.
• Own the support ticket queue, improve KPI and SLA performance, and lead incident resolution and root-cause analysis.
• Identify AI and automation opportunities, ensure accurate Tax Year-End processing, and review BACS payments.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience as a Payroll Manager in bureau or outsourced environments serving enterprise clients.
• Experience coaching and developing payroll teams while applying strong technical payroll knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple payrolls across different industries.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and audit, payroll and HR systems, and GL structures.

Nice to have

• Republic of Ireland payroll experience.
• CIPP qualification or active progress toward one.
• Demonstrable use of AI to automate payroll work.
