Salary: €42,000–€50,000 per year plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the complete Portuguese payroll cycle, including employee master data, variable compensation, benefits, absences, garnishments, validations, and corrective actions.
• Manage statutory filings and government requirements, including IRS declarations, DMR filings, Modelo 10, reimbursement claims, withholding codes, and government system access.
• Configure and maintain Cegid Primavera, PHC, and/or Sendys, test legislative updates, troubleshoot issues, and improve payroll automation with Product.
• Oversee payroll journals, GL mappings, Finance reconciliations, reporting, data integrity, GDPR compliance, and audit documentation.
• Resolve complex client payroll escalations and advise stakeholders on Portuguese tax, social security, labor law, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Improve processes, maintain payroll playbooks and SOPs, coach junior specialists, and support Regional Managers when needed.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience independently running complete native Portuguese payroll processes at high volume.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Cegid Primavera, PHC, and/or Sendys is essential.
• Recognized accounting or payroll qualification, such as Contabilista Certificado, and/or a dedicated payroll processing certification.
• Deep current knowledge of Portuguese wage tax, social insurance, labor law, and collective bargaining agreements.
• Portuguese at C1/C2 and fluent English are required.
• Experience handling sensitive escalations, improving processes, working cross-functionally, and coaching less experienced colleagues.

Nice to have

• Broader accounting qualifications, such as Revisor Oficial de Contas.
• Experience delivering cross-functional HR and payroll projects.
• Hands-on use of AI tools for payroll or operations workflows.
• Data transformation and practical experience with data analytics platforms.
