Audit Reviewer (Workers' Compensation)

Location: San Diego, CA, USA; hybrid/remote office environment

Salary: $22.00–$28.00 per hour

What you will do

• Review completed workers’ compensation premium audits for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company, carrier, bureau, and state requirements.
• Compare audits with prior audits, policy history, underwriting files, endorsements, applications, inspections, and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate classifications, payroll allocations, employee duties, ownership, officer status, endorsements, and combinability between related entities.
• Research discrepancies, coordinate policy corrections and endorsements, and document the basis for decisions.
• Review audit disputes, supporting documentation, late-reported claims, and employee status when requested.
• Respond to inquiries and collaborate with brokers, insureds, auditors, vendors, carriers, underwriting, compliance, and internal teams.

Requirements

• At least two years of insurance experience, preferably in workers’ compensation premium audit, underwriting, or compliance.
• Working knowledge of workers’ compensation premium audit practices, classifications, payroll reporting, ownership rules, endorsements, and entity combinability.
• Strong analytical, research, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to review detailed records, identify inconsistencies, make decisions based on documentation, and explain findings and required corrections.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to work in carrier, vendor, bureau, and internal insurance systems.
• Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
