Lab Technician - 3 (Job 1438)

Location: On-site in Durham, North Carolina, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. EST; not hybrid or remote.

What you will do

• Create barcoded labels and scan biospecimens into the laboratory database.
• Prepare specimens from multiple studies for long-term storage and create aliquots of serum, plasma, cells, and urine according to study protocols.
• Prepare, test, and record quality-control materials while following batching and relabeling procedures.
• Manage Excel files and develop file structures for specimen and data transfers.
• Pack samples for external laboratories in accordance with IATA regulations and maintain equipment and supply inventories.
• Coordinate specimen pulls and provide inventory and database support to internal and external collaborators across projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, Medical Lab Technology, or a related field.
• At least one year of bench research experience with biospecimens, including blood, urine, and stool; assay or testing experience is not required.
• Previous laboratory experience and basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Durham, North Carolina, five days per week during EST business hours.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for sample shipments.

• Experience with LIMS.
• Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory.
