What you will do

• Monitor freezers, refrigerators, and room temperatures, and respond to freezer alarms according to standard operating procedures.
• Receive, unpack, document, and store biological samples at the appropriate temperatures.
• Inventory frozen samples in the BSI data management system, verify vial and study-site information, and report discrepancies.
• Retrieve samples according to requisitions and procedures, perform outgoing quality control, and update batch records.
• Aliquot frozen specimens using aseptic technique and label vials and shipping boxes.
• Prepare and ship dangerous and non-dangerous biological goods, complete shipment documentation, and maintain dry shipper quality control.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus two years of general work experience.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, and the ability to work effectively in a group environment.
• Familiarity with Excel and basic spreadsheet functions.
• Ability to lift and carry 31–50 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance, and perform prolonged standing, walking, and repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to work in freezer environments ranging from -20°C to -196°C.
• Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension required.

Nice to have

• One year of relevant laboratory experience.
• Basic laboratory skills.
• Training in aseptic technique.
