Senior Director Engineering – Manufacturing (AI)

Location: Staines-upon-Thames, England, United Kingdom; hybrid working with a balance of remote and in-office work, plus travel to key manufacturing customer locations.

What you will do

• Lead a multi-layered engineering organization spanning Engineering Directors, Architects, and Principal Engineers.
• Define and execute the Manufacturing engineering strategy in alignment with product and company-wide technology direction.
• Own delivery outcomes across multiple teams, establishing predictable, high-quality execution and scalable engineering operating models.
• Guide cloud-native architecture, platform evolution, APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, DevOps, automated testing, observability, and security standards.
• Drive organization-wide adoption of AI-assisted engineering and guide development of AI-enabled Manufacturing capabilities.
• Partner with Product Management, Architecture, Manufacturing leaders, customers, and senior stakeholders on strategy and outcomes.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering and enterprise application development background.
• Extensive experience leading Directors, Managers, and senior technical experts.
• Proven delivery of large-scale, complex software systems across multiple teams.
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures, APIs, distributed systems, and agentic workflows.
• Ability to operate at both strategic and technical levels, with strong communication, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness to work hands-on with customers on site and travel to key manufacturing customer locations.

• Experience in manufacturing, ERP, or industrial enterprise software.
