Junior Legal Counsel - Regulatory and Complaints Handling (Fintech)

Location: Milan, Italy; office attendance required three days per week under the smart working policy

Annual compensation: €30,000–€40,000, based on experience

What you will do

• Support customer complaint management through internal procedures and proceedings before the Italian Banking and Financial Ombudsman, preparing legal assessments and draft responses.
• Provide legal support on payment services, consumer credit, consumer protection, contract law, and other legislation relevant to the business.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, escalating complex or material matters to senior legal team members.
• Prepare legal memoranda, opinions, practical recommendations, and independent legal research for business stakeholders.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and support updates to internal processes, documentation, commercial practices, templates, and policies.
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify legal risks and implement legal requirements and best practices.

Requirements

• Italian Law Degree or equivalent.
• Fluent Italian and English at C1–C2 level required.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Some previous experience in a structured law firm or company is beneficial.

Nice to have

• Experience in payment services or consumer credit.
• Admission to the Italian Bar.
• French or Spanish at B2+ level.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
